LYRICS
Our shadows stretch out on the pavement
As I walk in the twilight with you
If we could be together like this forever
Holding hands
It’s almost enough to make me cry
The wind grows colder
I can smell winter
Soon the season will come to this town
When I can get close to you
This moment
When the two of us cuddle up
To gaze at the first snow flower of the year
Is overflowing with happiness
It’s not dependence or weakness
I just love you
I thought so with all my heart
I feel like when I’m with you
I can overcome anything
I pray that these days
Will continue forever
The wind rattled the window
The night shakes you awake
I will change any sorrow
Into a smile
The snow flowers fell
Outside the window
Unceasing
And colored our town
I realized that love means
Wanting to do something
For someone else
If I should lose you
I’ll become a star and shine on you
I’ll be with you even on nights
When your smile is wet with tears
This moment
When the two of us cuddle up
To gaze at the first snow flower of the year
Is overflowing with happiness
It’s not dependence or weakness
I just want to be like this
With you forever
I can honestly think that now
The pure white snow flowers
Bury this town
Softly drawing memories in our hearts
Together forever with you…

Suprised to find so much ‘debate’ on youtube about which version is better =) I guess the original is always better, since first impression is a powerful thing ^^ And Mika’s singing is just sooooooo beautiful. Simple and direct, yet conveys such deep emotions. Controlled and never too forceful. She’s got the most soothing and mellow chest tones as well as the purest head tones.
Another reason why the Korean remake sounds not as good is because of the inferior arrangement. Right from the intro, the original crystal sounds are replaced by its imitation by the electronic keyboard. The cheap synthesizer sounds in sustainment and drum brush beats in the first chorus totally kill the atmosphere, not to mention the French horn imitation from the electronic keyboard and the tambourines in the later choruses ><”"”"”"” I do think Park Hyo Shin deserves the best quality of instrumentals to go with his voice. It’s a pity that production costs were probably limited for this song featured in an OST.

However, both versions pretty much tie when it comes to live performances. In fact, PHS was pretty clever in remaking this song as his voice resembles Mika’s. (Sorry if I confuse you by comparing a female voice with a male one ^0^) The fact that PHS’ got rich, mellow low notes and pure falsetto (with a nasal character) does help retain the ‘flavour’ of Mika’s original version a lot.
A Final note…
All I care is the quality of the music and how well the singer delivers and interprets the song. It doesn’t really matter which one is the original. Good music speaks for itself =)
